La Jornada «Creativity, culture, and mental health», held on October 26, 2023 at the Centre d'Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona, highlighted the relationship between art, creativity, and mental health.
The gathering was created with the desire to give visibility to the diversity of existing initiatives and experiences in this field.
The event was conceived as a space for gathering, exchange, and cooperation among organizations, artistic collectives, and mental health professionals.
Following the guidelines of the’World Health Organization (WHO), the potential of art and creativity in promoting wellbeing and mental health was reflected upon.
Projects and experiences developed from different sectors and creative disciplines were shared.
The needs of artistic groups linked to the field of mental health were also identified.
One of the lines of work was the need to dignify and make visible artistic production of people with mental health experience.
The conference proposed the creation of new communication and dissemination channels to facilitate public access to artistic productions.
Likewise, a commitment was made to promote policies and initiatives that favor autonomous, sustainable artistic production with continuity.
The meeting became a starting point to generate new alliances, collaborative projects and future proposals between culture, art and mental health in Catalonia.
