The 4th “La Xarxa a Debat” Conference”, held on November 21, 2008, was dedicated to “Mental Health and Addictions: The Integration of Networks”.

The conference raised the need to move towards a holistic concept of health and disease, integrating mental health and addiction care.

Network integration was presented as a priority of Mental Health and Addictions Master Plan, but also as a complex process that required conceptual and organizational reflection.

The origins and evolution of existing networks were analyzed, as well as different experiences and integration models from other territories.

The opening lecture, given by Prof. Luigi Cancrini, it will address diversified therapeutic strategies for mental health disorders and addictions.

The perspectives on the integration of mental health and addictions from different territories of the State were also presented.

The event paid special attention to difficulties and successes of the different models of territorial and service integration.

In the afternoon, a debate was opened on how to advance the integration process and what elements needed to be considered.

The participants' work had to allow the identification of key elements to develop a document of conclusions and recommendations addressed to the heads of the Administration.

Overall, the event helped to boost a integrated mental health and addictions network, adapted to the characteristics and needs of the territory.
