The Conference “Human Rights and Psychiatric Admission: Good Practices” It was held on November 13, 2015, at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.

It was organized by Clinical Ethics Committee of the FCCSM with the aim of reflecting on ethics and good practices in psychiatric hospitalization.

The conference presented the document “Human rights and psychiatric hospitalization. For an ethics of capacity. The diagnosed life”.

This work gathered the reflections developed by the Committee between 2013 and 2015.

The effects of psychiatric admission on the lives of the patients and their families were analyzed.

The debate incorporated different perspectives, including those of professionals, family members, and service users.

The participation and the quality of the interventions especially enriched the exchange of reflections and experiences.

Existing practices were questioned and the emphasis was placed on respect for human rights and dignity.

The conference called for better methods and conditions in psychiatric admission and hospitalization processes.

Overall, it helped promote care more ethical, respectful, and focused on the capacity and rights of individuals.
