Community Mental Health in Childhood and Adolescence, visions, experiences, and challenges
The community as a space of care and protection where every life begins to imagine itself
The 8th Catalan Congress of Child and Adolescent Mental Health was held on March 14 and 15, 2024, in Barcelona, under the slogan “Community Mental Health in Childhood and Adolescence today. Visions, experiences, and challenges”.
The Congress reflected on the influence of social, cultural, and economic factors on the mental health of children and adolescents.
A community-based approach involving professionals, families, and the various care networks was advocated.
The opening lecture was given by social psychologist Maribel Hombrados.
The first table addressed how we understand community mental health.
The second presented global projects with a community vision, including experiences in urban planning and the recovery of community spaces.
The third panel shared community experiences and addressed the challenges related to distress in children and adolescents.
Experiences in the fields of leisure, networking, and support for adolescents in high schools were presented.
The program also included the presentation and award ceremony for the best posters.
The Congress reinforced the FCCSM's commitment to the multidisciplinarity, the community approach, and participation in child and adolescent mental health.
